fall LEAF DRIVE and CANDLE WAX

hello all,
Once again, we are looking for LEAVES for mulching the gardens at the Mustard Seed Community Farm.  This year, we will also take pine needles.  

We are also looking for CANDLE WAX to make our annual advent candles.  for more info - look at the bottom of this post.

harvests this week

hi friends,
back by popular demand, we are having 2 mini-harvests this week!!
Tuesday 10/24: 8-11am  (but ok if you need to leave at 10am)and Friday 10/27: 8-11am (but ok if you need to leave at 10am)
we will be harvesting food for YOU and for our donation sites.  The harvest will be mostly carrots, greens, herbs, squash, and other hardy crops.  If we have extra time, we will plant garlic.  We also will need help delivering to food pantries: Salvation army, Mica, Primary Health Care clinic, Food at First.

POSTPONED: Equinox Celebration

Dear Mustard Seed community,

It seems the weather for tomorrow night's equinox celebration is 80% chance of severe thunderstorms, which sounds unpleasant and unsafe enough for us to shift the event to another day. So, tomorrow's event is RESCHEDULED for:

Wednesday, September 27th from 6:30pm-8:30pm @ the Farm.

Same details as before -- pasted below for ease - except there will be NO camping option.

Natural Dyeing workshop

We will be dyeing with plants on natural fibers -
INCLUDING:
1. - DYE BATHS OF YELLOW, ORANGE, BROWN, AND POSSIBLY OTHER COLORS (using weld, coreopsis, walnut, marigold,
2. - DYEING WITH FRESH INDIGO
3. - ECOPRINTING - printing directly on fabric with plants and flowers
LUNCH AT 12:30 - please bring some food to share

Natural Dyeing workshop postponed AND we totally need more volunteers!!

Just a quick schedule update:

2. Natural Dyeing Workshop postponed!!! There's just too much going on at the farm right now and we are so busy with fieldwork that we've decided to postpone this very fun workshop until a later time. We don't actually know when, but it will happen!! repeat: NO DYEING WORKSHOP ON AUGUST 19.
