pot-lucks again!!!!

Hello Everyone!

(if you are skimming - my summary is that there are 2 schedules in this email - 1. pot-lucks, and 2. Farm-labor-share work days. 2 events: this friday and saturday)

This Friday we are having our first pot-luck of the season out at the farm. We are switching gears from winter to summer. Today we had a practice harvest with our new volunteers, and next week we hope to have our first real harvest with deliveries to our CSA and to Food at First and to other hungry locations. If you know of folks who would love fresh, healthy veggies but have trouble affording them, please get in touch with us - soon we will have food to share.
since the weather is warmer, our pot-lucks will be back on the farm, every Friday starting this Friday. 6pm dinner, 7pm discussion. This weeks fearless leader is Fred Kirschenmann. If you don't know who Fred is, you should come meet him, and if you do know who he is, you should come and bring a friend. He's a good farmer, thinker, talker, and do-er, and knows a lot about many topics, like sustainable and/or organic farming, and this friday he's going to help us think about regional food systems.

Here is the schedule of future discussion leaders and topics -- we will have a pot-luck every week through september 9, so keep your eyes peeled on our website for the next schedule:
May 27 -- Erv Klaas, "On sustainability"
June 3 -- Carl Roberts, "Role of Capitalism in Democracy"
June 10 -- Rachael Cox, "Yoga and Spirituality"
June 17 -- "Ecological Gift Economy" led by the bicycling Superheroes
June 24 -- Carl Kurtz, "Natural prairie"
July 1 -- Nicholas Leete, "Agriculture, hydrology, and water quality"
July 8 -- Tom Brum, "Spiritual Gifts"
(Emily Boston and Luciano Garofalo, "Interplay" (a playful method of using our body's wisdom to foster interconnectedness" - to be postponed to a later date this summer)

another thing we are doing is a work share with some of our other farm friends. please join us as we visit other local farms, doing good hard work. it's as fun as doing someone else's dishes, but probably more educational.
Here's a schedule for the farm work share for this summer. We're going to start this Saturday (sorry if it's short notice!) at Table Top Farm - we'll be pouring cement & doing some planting rain or shine. Plan to meet at 2pm and go until around 6pm. We'll have a potluck afterward so bring a dish!

May 21- too muddy to work anywhere
June 18 - Table Top Farm
July 16 - Mustard Seed Farm
August 20 - Onion Creek Farm

Feel free to invite other friends & community members to these dates. We'll do 2-6pm w/ a potluck at each farm.

I'm hoping we are through with frost until the fall.
peace,
alice mcg
