Shadowbeast and Milo meet for the first time

Dear friends,

One of my favorite things about the farm is how it brings people together, giving people whose life paths might not otherwise cross an opportunity to meet each other. Sometimes those people form meaningful, long lasting friendships; sometimes they discover they have things in common that they never would have expected; sometimes they hold drastically different views from one another, and are able to challenge and learn from each other.

We recently got to witness a very special meeting between two very special strangers: Shadowbeast and Milo.

Dear friends,
(pictures temporarily sideways until fixed...)
Pictured above are interns Allyson and Xueyan on Allyson’s birthday celebration. Before them is Xueyan’s delicious and innovative jello cake with sour cream frosting. Xueyan and Allyson both celebrated their birthdays recently, so it has been a festive time on the farm. Also, the crescent moon at sunset:)

Hello Universe! We have a Potluck and Discussion this week!

Hello everyone!

Thank you to all who came out this past Saturday to help with the garlic harvest! With all of your help and energy, we finished the whole job in one Saturday! Great work!

This is a blog to inform you about our upcoming Potluck and Discussion, this Thursday evening, July 12th, 6pm to 8pm, at 307 8th Street, right in downtown Ames. Our topic will be "Food and Class", led by two of your favorite interns, Rachel Eber and Alice Foster! I hope to see you there!

This is also a blog to introduce You to Me, Allyson, another intern (if you haven't met me yet)!

summer events and garlic harvest!

hello friends!

Thanks everyone for coming to our party last saturday, in the midst of heat and thunderstorms, and making our 10 year celebration such a great success! It was wonderful to be in the company of such a wonderful community of people who have helped make this farm possible over the years.

after a very dry spring, we are now having a very wet summer. It's surprising how quickly things can change. A few crops are drowning, but otherwise, the soil is draining and the plants are growing. We definitely have not had to water in weeks.
