csa 2014

Hello,

MUSTARD SEED COMMUNITY FARM CSA SHARES AVAILABLE FOR 2014

Mustard Seed Community Farm is a community farm dedicated to land stewardship, cooperation, education, and serving the hungry. We've been around for about six years, and this coming year, we are looking for people that want to get a share in our CSA, where you get a box of food once a week, from about the end of May to the end of September - about 20 weeks, depending on the weather. The box is mostly vegetables, with smaller amounts of herbs or fruit when available. Details are below. Call 515-460-1467 or email nleete@gmail.com if you're interested in either a paid or work share. Also, for more info about the CSA or our farm, go to mustardseedfarm.org

The PAID SHARE is pretty simple: you pay us $400, and then you get a box of our vegetables, fruit, etc. delivered for the whole season. If you aren't able to pay all $400 at once or ever, talk to us and we can probably work something out. Deliveries are on Tuesdays or Fridays to your house or a nearby location, let us know which of these you'd prefer and if you could do either. We also ask that our members volunteer for one 3 hour shift during the season at your convenience, or pay an extra $20 if you are unable to volunteer.

The WORK SHARE is also pretty simple. You come to the farm and work for three hours Tuesday or Friday morning, helping with the harvest and maybe some other tasks, then take home a box of our vegetables fruit, etc.

The details of the workshares:

Workshares will be on Tuesdays and Fridays again this year, from 7am to 10am. This means that we ask each of you to come on one of these days every week during the summer. Our first work week will be mid may, in order to do some introduction to the farm, orientation about harvests, and to give our workers a fun box of early-season food. The work days will continue until the end of the harvest season; this is usually mid-October.

If you're interested in a workshare, please let me know as soon as possible whether Tuesdays or Fridays work better for you, and if you could do either one. We'll make a schedule for the whole year based on this, and we want the workers to come every week or find a replacement, so that our harvests and our farm can run smoothly. If you're not able to commit to coming every week, consider being one of our substitute workshares. Our regular workshares often need subs, and you can sub in for them and get a surprise box of vegetables.

Thanks!
