POTLUCK
The last potluck of our winter season, as its almost summer, will be happening next Friday, May 16, with dinner at 6 PM and a discussion from 7 to 8 PM. This potluck will be in town (ames), at 704 Duff ave. The topic of the discussion shall be: Hindu philosophy and social justice. This will be led by the Hindu student organization at Iowa state. Come join us for good food and conversation. We'll also be coming out with our full summer schedule shortly, when we'll be having a potluck every week at the farm.
WORKDAYS
We have a few workdays coming up. The first this saturday, two or one days from now, depending on when you read this. Schedule below:
This Saturday, May 10 will be from 9 to 5. You can come for the whole day and bring some lunch to share, or come just at 9 or 1, for a half a workday!
Other Work Days upcoming, also on Saturdays are: May 17 1-5 p.m., May 24 1-5 p.m., June 7 1-5 p.m.
Also if you'd like to come another time, such as during the week, contract Alice at 515 460 1467 to arrange a time to come out and help. We usually love teaching new workers!
FARM UPDATE
Our farm is moving along, maybe about two weeks behind average cause of the cold, but our soil moisture and tree blooms seems to be doing well.
Other fun projects: we got a large hayfield planted, that will improve our soil quality and provide some quasi-prairie habitat for various things for a few years, we helped a brooding hen stop brooding and built a moveable chicken coop, and we've fully expanded onto our new ground, planting paths and prairie throughout the area, with about a thousand prairie plant transplants ready to go in the ground
That's all for now!
