dear friends,
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, a beautiful solstice and a happy Holiday season!
We are planning a SWAP for Saturday, January 27, and we wanted to give you a heads-up in case you were going through your belongings in the next month. Before you throw things away or take them to the thrift stores, think about saving things for the SWAP.
At this event, everyone brings things to give away, we take a little time to arrange them in an orderly fashion, and then everyone has a chance to take away anything that they need. It's community wide sharing, giving, and recycling. At the end of the event, we will sort what's leftover to take to people who need it. This year we will be giving the leftover clothing to the St. Vincent de Paul clothing drive the next day. We will let you know more details as we get closer.
if you are interested in helping with this event, or have special requests or locations for the leftovers, please contact alice (978-471-8414 or 515-460-1467)
Similarly, we are also looking for fabric for our winter rag-rug making. We can make beautiful rugs out of ugly fabric. Especially great are large pieces of fabric that are not nice enough to go to a new home. for example, torn or stained sheets, tablecloths, curtains, or particularly out of date or ugly fabric. We can take this fabric now - again contact Alice.
(we will also take candle stubs for making new candles)
in SUMMARY:
when cleaning out your cupboards and closets,
1. save nice things for our SWAP on January 27
2. give ugly, torn or stained things to us now so we can make beautiful rugs.
thanks so much
