well, i wrote a bunch of deep thoughts about the weather and lessons we are learning, but i seem to have lost the file. so i will just include some pictures. Our garlic harvest on Saturday was awesome. We had a great team and the garlic was good. I had a lot of fear about what the garlic might look like when we pulled them out, because the plants were dying back 3 weeks early and we'd had so little rain this season so far. But the bulbs were big and healthy looking. The mulch must have been doing a good job of keeping some moisture near the plants.
Today, Tuesday, was Jake's last day on our harvest crew, so I figured I better include a picture of him and the rest of our super crew. We did not grow this watermelon - it came from an organic farm in another state. We need to post another picture of our CSA box because it's way better than that tiny box posted from weeks ago. today's box had beets, onion, potatoes, turnips, brocolli, cabbage, swiss chard, peas, parsley, a fennel bulb, and of course garlic.
