December 6-19: Building new Multi-purpose farm building - can you help?

We’re wondering if you or anyone you know would like to come help us as we build an amazing new farm building at the Mustard Seed Farm. In particular, we are looking for a range of help, from skilled carpenters to slightly experienced people, and a few enthusiastic novices during this timeframe: December 6-19. The structure of the building is up – so all the work would be indoors.

After more than 3 years of prayer, discernment, hard work, advice, and saving money, we have finally started building this new farm building. We have hired a professional crew to do the major framing, and hope that we can finish interior work with the help of volunteers during the winter. Also, we’ve totally spent all the money we had saved for this building and just borrowed money to do the siding and roof, so we really do need some creative help to get this project finished.

Maria Bergh, architect, catholic worker, and fearless volunteer leader, is coming to stay with us for a couple of weeks (Dec 3-19). While such a capable leader is here, we wanted to make a big push to get as much of the interior work in the building done. We are looking for a few people on weekdays: 9am-4pm, and can lead larger groups on the weekends: Saturday 9am-4pm, and Sunday 1-5pm. The work and our needs will vary, so Please do not just show up! Why are we building a new building? The farm has significant infrastructure limitations and this small barn/building will provide:
improved weatherproof storage of tools and supplies,
indoor workshop space for carpentry and handcrafts,
a little farm store,
space for educational programming and community events,
and hospitality.
This project is a lot of work right now, but we believe that it will really help us in our mission to serve the community and the planet.

Things we might work on:
Installing insulation
Drywalling walls
Designing and building shelves, storage, cupboards, closets,
installing interior doors
Painting

To summarize:
We really need help.
I think it could be super fun.
The best time to come is when Maria is here to keep us all coordinated.
