Things are VERY SLOWLY warming up!
Today I almost saw the sun a few times. (written on monday)
here's a flashback picture to 2010??2012? with Ashley and Rooney (the sun was actually shining back in 2010)
2 things in this post -
1. general schedule of times to help on the farm - please RSVP
2. Workshare schedule starting next week with 2 weeks of training shifts - please RSVP
3. May 14: 10-noon Don't forget the seed and plant sharing event at Romero House (see blog post below)
Despite this cold spring, we have been getting some things done! We had a fun spring cleaning day yesterday (thank you cleaners!), we burned most of the prairie, we've been getting the gardens prepped, and we have planted a few crops. Some of our perennials are finally showing signs of life (first cherry blossoms appeared yesterday!)
THIS WEEK:
If you want to help with planting, or other early season stuff - here's our work schedule at the farm based on the current weather forecast:
wednesday 5/4: 9-11:30, 1-4pm
Friday 5/6: 1-4pm
Saturday 5/7: 1-4pm (if there's enough interest)
NEXT WEEK LOOKS A LITTLE WARMER! (schedule for 2 weeks)
tuesday 5/10 (and 5/17): 8-10am WORKSHARE TRAINING - (you can stay longer in the morning to help with planting and other stuff if you want)
Friday 5/13 (and 5/20): 8-10am WORKSHARE TRAINING - (you can stay longer in the morning to help with planting and other stuff if you want)
THIS WORKSHARE TRAINING IS OPTIONAL IF YOU ARE A RETURNING WORKSHARE PERSON. HOwever, it will be helpful to have some returning people, and we will actually have some food to send home with you, though it will probably be mostly onions, herbs, and eggs. We will go through all the jobs of harvest. This is also a good time to come if you are a crop leader. We realize that many people have strange schedules in May and might be able to make these early harvests. PLease help us out at the beginning here by RSVP'ing to harvest times whether you can come or not, and hopefully we will get in a scheduling groove soon. (for now, just RSVP by replying to this email, or texting alice) if you are new and unable to make the training, don't fret - just let me know. It's helpful for us to train as many new people together, but we can make a back-up plan.
if you want to sign up to be a workshare - click on the workshare tab to your left and then fill out the form at the end.
OTHER WORK TIMES on the farm will be scheduled around the weather, so let me know if you want to come at some other time.
ALSO, WE STILL HAVE SOME CROPS THAT NEED LEADERS - it's so fun to take care of little plants...
thanks all!
alice
