We have been lucky to have two very skilled, ambitious, and dedicated flower leaders on the farm this year. They have planted many new things, and we have been able to make flower bouquets every week to share with our workers and all our donation sites. These flowers add beauty to the farm, food to pollinators and birds, and joy to everyone who receives them. Things have been growing well this year on the farm, so while we have planted less vegetables, and have put our paying CSA on hold, we have still had abundant harvests of food to share, along with these bouquets. Like the worker song says, "Give us bread, but give us roses."
if you want, here are spotify links to Utah Phillips telling the story of the Bread and Roses Strike in Lawrence, MA, followed by the song.
