Hello, today I have an update on what's going on on the farm and some events you might want to attend at our farm.
Update:
So Tuesday we had our first delivery to our CSAs. The boxes included lettuce, spinach, rhubarb, kale, mustard greens, radishes, turnips, and oregano, fennell, and sage. We also put the last two walls of the house on that day, now all that's left is the roof (and doors, windows, electricity, plumbing, interior decoration, ) I'll put some pictures up on our website soonish.
With the housebuilding, things have been a bit stressful, but luckily we've had a great deal of helpful workers which have made things manageable. In new people, we have some cool Ames residents, ISU students, and visiting workers who are coming to do WWOOF stays or internships on our farm. Hopefully, soon, we'll tell you about them on our website as well!

Potluck/Discussions: generally, going to be every Friday for much of the summer.

Ecosystem Conservation
Tomorrow, Friday, June 4th, with a potluck dinner at 6PM and a discussion at 7PM. At the Mustard Seed Community Farm (366 W Ave, Ames, IA, 50014).
Nicholas (me) will lead a discussion about the meaning and possibilities of conservation, with a starting focus on soil use and farm ecosystems.

Catholic Worker Farm Philosophy
Next Friday, June 11th, with a potluck dinner at 6PM and a discussion at 7PM. Again, at the Mustard Seed Community Farm (366 W Ave, Ames, IA, 50014).
Alice will lead this discussion, focusing on the basic principles underlying Catholic Worker Farms in general, and our farm in particular.

more potlucks will follow on subsequent Fridays, we just haven't gotten set topics yet. Maybe you'd like to talk about something! I'll try to update the website for the next potlucks after these two.

Field Day
July 31st, from 9AM to 1 PM. With the ISU student organic farm, we'll host a Practical Farmers of Iowa field day at MSF and SOFA, talking about Community to Ag-Links and cover crops in vegetable plots. Here's a link to it! http://www.leopold.iastate.edu/news/events/2010%20Field%20Guide.pdf

Sweet Potato Party
September 26th, at the farm, we've yet to decide on specific times. This will largely involve harvesting sweet potatoes and eating sweet potato products.
