Happy May Day! Happy International Workers' Day / Labour Day! Happy anniversary of the first printing of the original Catholic Worker newspaper in 1933.
It's May and everything is happening! Planting! Harvests! Farmers Market! Seed Sharing! Interns Arriving! It's a very exciting time here on the farm, and we are looking forward to seeing our harvest volunteers very, very soon!
Upcoming Events
We are looking for folks to help us host these events. If you are interested, please contact us.
WORKSHARES START May 6 & 9 from 8-10 AM
The first week will be a training session (8-10 AM), the second week a practice run (8-10 AM), and then we will be in full swing with our CSA and donation deliveries (7-10 AM). Yes, you can still be a workshare if you can't make these trainings, but we strongly encourage all new and returning volunteers to attend harvest training! If you are signed up to be a 2025 workshare (also known as a Tuesday or Friday harvest volunteer) you should have received an email with instructions for the 2025 harvest season. Please look for a message titled "Important Info for Tuesday/Friday Workshares at Mustard Seed Farm" from outreach.mustardseed@gmail.com.
PLANTS: Prairie plants, Garden Kits
We have started a lot of seeds! We will have garden kits and veggie plants for sale starting at the May 10th Ames downtown farmers' market, and for gift (at seed and plant sharing events on May 17). We will have prairie plants for sale after our last frost date and as soon as the plants are healthy and strong enough to face the world. We will probably take online orders and sell at market. Please check the the website for a 2025 inventory and order info (COMING SOON).
