weddings, farewells, and a retreat

Colette and Darrin are getting married this weekend, so we will have some extra guests on the farm, and a slightly different schedule. There won’t be a community dinner this Friday, the 17th, but we will resume the next week. Everyone is invited to our Friday dinners, for a meal at 6 and prayer and/or discussion at 7pm. Please feel very welcome to come to both or only one part, and come even if you don’t have food to bring (did I mention we have a lot of vegetables?)

Nicholas is leaving for Mexico for his fall semester on August 1st. We’ll be having a little going away pot-luck on Sunday afternoon, July 26. Nicholas is amazing. I don’t know what we’ll do without him, but I know he’s really excited to learn in Mexico.

These are some big changes for our farm, and I expect we’ll be needing extra help in a few weeks, but I believe it will all work out.

We are also hosting a Franciscan retreat on the farm the day of August 8th (with an optional camp-out the night before). The details aren’t pinned down yet, but the basic plan is to learn about the core Franciscan values (like humility, poverty, care of creation, etc), mixed in with some contemplation, discussion, and activities.
