building project continued

Dear friends,

(in this email:
1. our ambitious amazing new building project
2. looking for help - volunteers, building materials, craft materials
3. lists of materials needed.)

Even though it's November, things are really happening on the farm! After more than 3 years of prayer, discernment, hard work, and advice, we have started building a new farm building. We have hired a professional crew to do the major framing, and hope that we can finish interior work with the help of volunteers during the winter. Also, thanks for all the leaves! We have some big piles that we will use to mulch vegetables next year.

Why are we building a new building? The farm has significant infrastructure limitations and seeks to build a small barn/building for improved weatherproof storage of tools and supplies, indoor workshop space for carpentry and handcrafts, space for educational programming and community events, and hospitality. This project is a lot of work right now, but we believe that it will really help us in our mission to serve the community and the planet.
(The Mustard Seed Community Farm is dedicated to sustainable, simple living, love of neighbor, and creating a community in which everyone can participate in growing, sharing, and eating healthy food.)

if you would like to see a picture of the building so far - there's a sideways picture on our website, and some right-side-up ones on Facebook

in our usual leap of faith fashion, we only have enough money to complete part of this project, so we are reaching out to everyone to see if you can help us out in any way.

Ways you can help:
- donate funds or building materials to the project
- volunteer your time (we can use skilled and unskilled help)
- lend us tools
- donate craft supplies for our winter craft projects (and later the craft sales will help us raise money for this project)
- keep us in your thoughts and prayers

below are lists of things we are looking for. Do you have leftover building materials from a project? craft supplies that we can turn into beautiful things?
WE plan to update a more in depth list on our website at mustardseedfarm.org

Building materials:
- insulation
- plywood
- drywall, drywall tape, drywall compound
- nails, screws
- interior paint, brushes, rollers,
- stove pipe
- old cabinets, shelves,
- wood for building shelves
We do not need ANY 2x4s.

Craft materials:
for making rugs, candles, and other things out of recycled materials.

-for rugs - old fabric.
Ideal are large pieces of fabric with few seams that are no longer nice enough to wear or use. For example, stained and/or torn linens and sheets, ugly sewing fabric that you have never used. These things can make beautiful rugs. Things we don't want are things with lots of seams, like children's clothes, or stuff that's still nice enough for someone to use and love.
- weaving tools and supplies- bobbin winder, shuttles, warp thread
- spinning tools and supplies - spools, niddy noddy, ball winder, wool, wool dyes,
- candle making - old candle stubs (unscented wax only please), beeswax, wicking
- any other misc. yarns or fibers.

thanks so much!
