FEB 3, NOON-1: ASK A FARMER: Getting Started Gardening with Mustard Seed Founders Alice McGary and Nicholas Leete, with guest appearance from Lois Fulton.
Our good friend Nicholas joins us from Madison where he is working as a community garden coordinator.
We will talk about planning and preparing for starting a garden. How to get a community garden plot, how to choose a garden spot at home, getting seeds or plants, and learn about the timing of season. PLENTY OF TIME TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE ABOUT GROWING FOOD IN IOWA.

FEB 10, NOON-1: COOKING CLASS with Benjamin Dubow. Learn to make Shakshuka!

FEB 17, NOON-1: ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION: Animal Intelligence led by Jeri Neal.

FEB 24, NOON-1: WELLNESS SKILLSHARE with Amy Miller - support EMOTIONAL WELLBEING through food and lifestyle choices

FEB 24, 7-8PM: CREATE TIME: CREATE TIME. This will be structured pretty simply - it's a time to work on our own creative projects together and hang out.  We will each have time to share with the group what creative projects we are working on, get feedback (if you want) and encouragement.

possible topics: Starting seeds, season planning, bed prep, fencing. garden planning (apocalypse garden plan for example)
MARCH 10, NOON-1: ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION - Needs in Story County in the midst of Covid. ANNEKE MUNDEL, the Community Impact Director at United Way, will share some of the needs that have been magnified by the coronavirus pandemic, ranging from food insecurity to immigrant supports to mental health. She also will uplift some of the inventive, collaborative solutions seen in Story County.

for March 17 class:
Butternut Squash Patties (croquettes?) with spiced yogurt sauce
Ingredients:

For the patties:
(about 14, 2" diameter )

2 cups butternut squash puree
3/4to 1 cup oats
1/2 to 3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
pinch cayenne (or to taste, optional)
1/4 cup crushed roasted peanuts (optional)
4 tsp raisins, chopped (optional)
4 Tbsp oil for frying

For the sauce:

1/2 cup plain yogurt
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp roasted cumin seeds, crushed
pinch cayenne (optional)

Optional garnish: chopped jalapeno, cilantro
