fall LEAF DRIVE and CANDLE WAX

hello all,
Once again, we are looking for LEAVES for mulching the gardens at the Mustard Seed Community Farm.  This year, we will also take pine needles.

We are also looking for CANDLE WAX to make our annual advent candles.  for more info - look at the bottom of this post.

Here's a note from Nate, who is coordinating the leaf pick-ups:
Hello Folks!
Text Nate at 515-231-2002 if you can donate leaves to Mustard Seed Community Farm this Fall. See below for details. Thank you!

Its getting to that time of year again when yards fill up with leaves, then bags fill up with leaves. Once again we plan on collecting however many of these bags you want to share with us, to store on the farm till we can mulch with them early next summer. Primarily potato mulching but if we collect enough leaves, we can also mulch tomatoes and peppers which has ended up being critical to their success with the dry summers. So its very helpful!

Black plastic bags or the brown compostable are preferred. Placing the bags upside down after filling would also be preferable so they stay dry inside.  Please, no black walnut, and please bag leaves and pine needles separately.
Please text me at 515-231-2002 when you have leaves. Include name and address.  I will confirm with you and let you know when pickup day will likely be for you.

Thanks Again! - Nate

CANDLE WAX:
It's time for our annual candlemaking! We are looking for Candle wax to recycle into hand-dipped advent candles.

OUr favorite wax is:
- Liturgical candle stubs because of the high-quality wax and because it's fun to make new prayer candles from candles that were used in prayer already. If you belong to a religious group that uses candles, please ask for us if they have any plans for the old candle stubs. We would love to recycle them.
- White, pink, purple, blue, red
- unscented
- Beeswax

It's ok if you don't have our very favorite kinds of wax, we can take a wide variety of candle stubs, but,
We really don't want candle wax that is
- Scented
- From container candles. Candles in containers use a different kind of wax and we need wax from candles that can stand on their own.

If you aren't sure - we will take all your wax and sort it ourselves. We will take wax any time of year. Text alice at 978-471-8414 to make a pickup plan.
